Exam Photo and Signature Resizer for SSC, IBPS, UPSC, NEET and More

Choose your exam and the file you are uploading, frame your photo or signature, and download a JPG that matches the pixel size, KB range and DPI the notice asks for. Your images are processed in your browser and never uploaded.

How to resize a photo or signature for an exam form

  1. 1Pick your exam. Choose the exam, then the slot you are filling: photo, signature, thumb impression or declaration. The box below shows what the notice asks for and what you will get.
  2. 2Add your image. Drop a photo from your phone or a scan. It does not need to be cropped or resized first.
  3. 3Frame it. Drag the picture inside the frame and use Zoom until your face, signature or thumb print fills it. Photos show an outline to help you centre your face.
  4. 4Download and check. Select Make file. The result lists its pixel size, file size and DPI next to the limits, so you can confirm it before uploading.

Exams with ready-made sizes

Each preset carries the figures from that body's recent notices. Requirements can change between cycles, so read the instructions in your own notice once before uploading. If the figures differ, use Other / custom size and type them in.

Exam guides cover what the presets cannot: IBPS and SBI declaration text and thumb rules, UPSC three-signature image and live photo, SSC and RRB live photo capture, and NEET UG postcard photo and Aadhaar match.

  • IBPS and SBI (PO, Clerk, RRB, SO): photo 200 by 230 pixels at 20 to 50 KB, signature 140 by 60 pixels at 10 to 20 KB, left thumb impression 240 by 240 pixels at 20 to 50 KB (IBPS accepts up to 100 KB), handwritten declaration 800 by 400 pixels at 50 to 100 KB.
  • UPSC: photo 20 to 200 KB on a white background, and one image holding three signatures one below the other, 20 to 100 KB.
  • SSC (CGL, CHSL, MTS, GD): signature about 4 by 2 cm at 10 to 20 KB. The photo is taken live in the portal.
  • Railways (RRB NTPC, Group D, ALP, JE): signature 3.5 by 2 cm at 30 to 49 KB. The photo is taken live in the portal.
  • NEET UG: passport photo and 4 by 6 inch postcard photo at 10 to 200 KB each, signature 4 to 30 KB.
  • JEE Main: photo 3.5 by 4.5 cm at 10 to 300 KB, signature 10 to 50 KB.
  • CUET UG: photo 200 by 230 pixels at 10 to 200 KB, signature 140 by 60 pixels at 10 to 50 KB.

Why a file can be rejected for being too small

Most portals check a minimum as well as a maximum. A signature of 140 by 60 pixels often saves at only 5 or 6 KB, which fails a 10 KB minimum even though it looks fine.

This tool first saves at the highest quality that stays under the maximum. If the file is still below the minimum, it adds blank padding inside the file until it reaches the minimum. The picture does not change; only the file size does.

Both limits are treated cautiously. The maximum counts 1 KB as 1,000 bytes and the minimum counts it as 1,024 bytes, so the file passes portals that measure either way.

SSC and RRB take your photo live

SSC and the Railway Recruitment Boards now capture your photo through your webcam or phone camera during the application, so there is no photo file to prepare. Sit facing the camera in good light against a plain background, without a cap, mask or spectacles.

You still upload a scanned signature for both. Choose Signature in the preset to get a file in the right range.

Getting a clean signature, thumb impression or declaration

Sign on plain white paper in black ink, in running hand rather than capital letters. Photograph it in daylight from directly above so the paper looks white, not grey. For UPSC, sign three times one below the other and frame all three together.

For a thumb impression, press your thumb once on an ink pad and then on white paper. Frame it closely so the print fills most of the square. For the IBPS and SBI declaration, write the text from the notice in your own handwriting and frame the whole block with a small white margin.

Transparent areas of a PNG become white in the JPG, which is what portals expect.

If your exam is not listed

Choose Other / custom size and type the width, height and KB range from your notice. If the notice gives centimetres instead of pixels, multiply by 79 for a 200 DPI image: 3.5 by 4.5 cm becomes about 276 by 354 pixels.

To shrink an image that is already the right size, Compress Image takes any KB limit. Our guide to photo and signature sizes for online forms explains what each requirement means.

Frequently asked questions

What size should my photo be for IBPS and SBI?

200 by 230 pixels and 20 to 50 KB, in JPG. The signature is 140 by 60 pixels and 10 to 20 KB. Choose IBPS & SBI and the tool sets both for you.

Do I need to upload a photo for SSC?

No. SSC takes your photo live through your camera during the application. You only upload a signature, which should be 10 to 20 KB.

My signature file is under the minimum KB. What do I do?

Make it again here with your exam selected. If a small file saves below the minimum, the tool adds blank padding inside the file so it meets the minimum without changing the picture.

Will the photo look stretched?

No. The frame always has the exact shape of the output, so you choose which part of the picture to keep and nothing is squeezed to fit.

Does the tool set the DPI?

Yes. Every file records 200 DPI in its header, which matches notices that ask for 200 DPI and passes those that ask for at least 100.

Can I use a phone photo?

Yes. A photo taken against a plain light wall in daylight works well. Frame it so your face fills most of the outline and both ears are visible.

Are my photos and signatures uploaded?

No. Everything happens in your browser and the images stay on your device.
