Passport Size Photo Maker: 35 × 45 mm, 2 × 2 inch and Print Sheets
Turn a photo from your phone into a passport size photo at 35 × 45 mm, 2 × 2 inch, UK, Canada or stamp size. Download the single photo for online forms, a 4 × 6 inch sheet for a photo shop, or an A4 PDF to print at home. Your photo is processed in your browser and never uploaded.
How to make a passport size photo
- 1Pick the size. Choose the size your passport, visa or form asks for. The box below it shows who uses that size and the head size its rules ask for.
- 2Add your photo. Use a recent photo taken against a plain white or light wall, facing the camera, with even light on your face.
- 3Frame your face. Drag the picture and use Zoom until your head, from chin to the top of your hair, fills the dashed outline.
- 4Download and print. Select Make passport photos to get the single photo, a 4 × 6 inch print sheet and an A4 PDF, each with light cut lines between copies.
Passport photo sizes in this tool
Each size frames your photo at the right shape and places the head outline where its rules expect your head to be.
- 35 × 45 mm: the usual Indian passport size photo, also used for Schengen visas, Australia and most application forms. Head 32 to 36 mm from chin to crown.
- 2 × 2 inch (51 × 51 mm): US passports and visas, and Indian portals such as OCI that ask for a square photo. Head 25 to 35 mm.
- UK 35 × 45 mm: same size as above, with a slightly smaller head of 29 to 34 mm and a cream or light grey background.
- Canada 50 × 70 mm: face 31 to 36 mm from chin to crown.
- Stamp size 20 × 25 mm: for Indian forms that ask for a stamp-size photo.
- Custom size: type any width and height in millimetres for an embassy or form not listed.
Taking a good passport photo at home
Stand about half a metre in front of a plain white or light wall and face a window, so daylight falls evenly on your face and no shadow lands behind you. Ask someone to hold the phone at your eye level about a metre away; a selfie at arm's length distorts the face.
Look straight at the camera with a neutral expression and your mouth closed. Remove caps and tinted glasses, keep your hair away from your eyes, and wear something darker than the wall so your shoulders stand out. Most countries now refuse photos with glasses, so take them off unless your rules allow them.
Use the photo straight from the camera. Beauty filters, smoothing and background edits can get a passport photo refused.
Which download to use
- Photo (JPG): one photo at its printed size and 300 DPI. Use it for online applications, or to have a single print made.
- 4 × 6 inch sheet (JPG): fills a standard photo print with copies, for example 8 photos at 35 × 45 mm. Any photo shop or print kiosk prints 4 × 6 for a few rupees.
- A4 sheet (PDF): a page of copies at their exact size, for printing at home or a print shop. In the print dialog, choose Actual size or 100%, not Fit to page.
Upload limits for online forms
The single photo is a JPG at 300 DPI. Many online forms set their own file size and pixel limits instead of a printed size. For Indian exam and job forms, the Exam Photo and Signature Resizer sets the exact pixels and KB range for SSC, IBPS, SBI, UPSC, NEET and more. For any other KB limit, run the photo through Compress Image.
Check the rules for your application
The sizes here follow the published rules of each country and are rechecked regularly, but requirements change. Before printing, compare the size, head size and background with the instructions on your passport, visa or form page. If your application centre takes the photo itself, as Indian Passport Seva Kendras do for most passport appointments, use these prints for other documents and applications instead.
Frequently asked questions
What is the size of a passport size photo in India?
Most Indian forms and photo studios use 35 × 45 mm (3.5 × 4.5 cm). Some online services, such as OCI, ask for a 2 × 2 inch square photo instead, so check the form first.
How many passport photos fit on a 4 × 6 print?
Eight photos at 35 × 45 mm, two at 2 × 2 inch, two at Canada's 50 × 70 mm and twenty at stamp size. The tool fills the sheet automatically.
Why are my printed photos the wrong size?
The printer scaled the page. Print the A4 PDF with Actual size or 100% selected, not Fit to page, and the photos come out at their exact size.
Can I change the background colour?
Not yet. Take the photo against a plain white or light wall, which is what most passport and visa rules ask for.
Can I wear glasses in a passport photo?
Usually not. The US, India, the UK and Australia expect glasses to be removed, and Canada accepts clear glasses only with no glare. Check the rules for your country.
Is my photo uploaded anywhere?
No. Framing, resizing and the print sheets are all made in your browser, and the photo stays on your device.
