Photo with Name and Date for Exam and Job Forms
Add your name and the date the photo was taken in a clean white band below or above your face. Pick the exam or print size, and the finished JPG comes out at the right pixels and inside the KB limit. Your photo is processed in your browser and never uploaded.
How to add your name and date to a photo
- 1Choose the size. Pick the exam the photo is for, a 35 × 45 mm print, or type a custom size and KB range from your notice.
- 2Type your name and date. Enter your name exactly as in the application, the date the photo was taken, and the date style your notice uses.
- 3Add and frame the photo. Drop your photo, then drag and zoom until your face fills the outline. The frame shows only the photo part; the name band is added for you.
- 4Download. Select Make photo with name and date. The result lists its pixel size, file size and DPI next to the limits.
Which forms ask for a name and date on the photo
Some recruitment notices ask for the candidate's name and the date of the photograph to be printed on the photo, usually in a strip below the face. The rule is common in state police, state public service commission and other state-level recruitment forms, and has appeared in some central notices in past years.
Many central exams do not require it any more. NTA, which runs JEE Main and NEET, has said a photo without the name and date is not rejected, and SSC and the Railway Recruitment Boards now take your photo live through the camera. Read the photograph section of your own notice; if it does not mention a name and date, a plain photo is the safer choice.
How the name and date band is laid out
- The band takes the bottom fifth of the photo by default, or the top fifth if your notice asks for that.
- Black bold letters on white, centred, with the name on the first line and the date on the second.
- The text size adjusts so a long name still fits on one line.
- The finished photo keeps the exact pixel size of the slot, so the face area is a little shorter than in a photo without a band.
Getting the name and date right
Type your name the way the application form has it, including the order of first name and surname. Capital letters are fine on the photo strip unless your notice says otherwise.
Use the date the photograph was taken, not today's date or your date of birth. Many notices also set a maximum age for the photo, such as taken within the last three months or after the notice was published, so take a fresh photo when in doubt.
Choose the date style your notice shows. DD-MM-YYYY is the most common in Indian notices.
Taking the photo itself
Stand in front of a plain white or light wall, face a window, and have someone hold the phone at eye level about a metre away. Remove caps and dark glasses, and keep your face straight and fully visible. For passport-size prints without a name band, use the Passport Size Photo Maker; for exam slots without a band, the Exam Photo and Signature Resizer sets the exact size and KB range.
Frequently asked questions
Is a name and date on the photo compulsory?
Only if your notice says so. Some state and police recruitment forms ask for it; many central exams, such as JEE Main and NEET, do not reject photos without it.
Which date should I write on the photo?
The date the photograph was taken. Do not use your date of birth or the date you fill the form, unless the notice asks for that specifically.
Will the photo still be the right size in KB?
Yes. The finished file keeps the exact pixels for the exam you chose and lands inside its KB range, with small files raised above the minimum.
Can I put the name above the face instead?
Yes. Choose Above the face, and the band moves to the top of the photo.
My name is long. Will it fit?
The text shrinks to fit the width of the photo on one line. Names up to 40 characters are supported.
Is my photo uploaded anywhere?
No. The band is drawn in your browser and the photo stays on your device.
